While growing up, SC & his family has many fond memories of eating out at Siauw A Tjiap, one of the old school Chinese restaurants in Jakarta. He kept saying about how good their food were. We tried it once last year by ordering take outs from their Taman Ratu branch and the result was disappointing. Some of the food even tasted weird. But still, SC assured me that maybe the old one located at Pancoran would taste better. So last month, as I passed this area, I entered the place and ordered one of their specialties: Lindung Cah Fumak (about 43K) to bring home.
This time I was not disappointed, the dish really tasted delicious. The eel was deep fried until crispy and they use some fermented red rice wine in the sauce. I guess I’ll be back later for more :)
